Capital gains on a disused uk property?
My dad bought a flat nearly 20 years ago for roughly 20k. He has never rented, nor made profit in that time and has been paying maintenance charges and council tax registered unoccupied on it throughout this time. He bought his main home about 15 years ago so the flat has been left as is. Today's value is approx 60k, but can't see how to work out what capital gains tax he may be liable for as I always thought there was some kind of allowance for annual inflation to be considered. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Incidentally there is no mortgage on the property, so was suggesting to him, instead of paying capital gain, to remortgage for a buy to let and rent both out.
Are there any websites with uk property stats?
I need to find a site with stats on uk properties i.e. how many...mortgaged...council owned etc etc...Any ideas??????
Cafe and rent(uk property)?
Any wrong doing, A person has a cafe and pays rent on the premises.... landlord comes along and demands 52 percent extra, cafe owners says no and subsequently closes the cafe....new shop opens up but the rent is still the same, since the landlord realises premises versus location would not get the higher rate.....can cafe owner sue for loss of revenue. after all the situation would not have happened if landlord had not been greedy...any thoughts
