Is email offer legally binding when buying property?
I put an offer on a property subject to finance on last Friday via email. It is a newly established house being sold directly from the builder. The builder replied via email on following day saying that congratulations your offer has been accepted. So I have all this communication in " writing" .Anyway I thought that once email offer is accepted they can not sell it to anyone else or change the price considering that I have already paid them $1000 deposit but someone told me that it is not true. I can still get " gazumped" until the signed contract was accepted by the vendor. I've been reporting to the vendor where I'm at with finance, so that they know that I'm a serious buyer and not going to back out. Would that help even a little bit to prevent being gazumped? Thanks in advance I'm in VIC
Is buying property worth it? Is it really an investment?
When you buy a house you will have to pay insurance on it case you have to remortgage and such and when your house is damaged by an unexpected cause not covered by your insurance agreement you are basically screwed . You can't legally drive a car in the UK without insurance which might cost 1000 or more and by the time you have had that car for lets say 20 years you will have paid three or two times or even more its original worth in insurance. Surely it would be better if they said if you cause an accident then you just have to pay for the damages. When you die and leave your house to your kids they have to pay inheritance tax in order to inherit your house which you paid for with your hard earned money which has already been taxed when you were alive. Do we really own anything if we have to continue to pay for it until the day we die and then some more after we die? Am I better off just never buying a house and just renting?
Can it be better financially to rent in the long run, compared to getting a mortgage and buying property?

Can I do anything after buying property that has a child support lien against it?
I am in the state of WV and less than a year ago purchased a plot of land. We used a lawyer that the seller knew in the county of purchased land. We were never asked if we wanted to run a title check when buying until we went to sell the property ourselves a few weeks ago using the same law office. Why are they asking the seller not the buyer? We then asked the buyer and he said yes, therefor discovering there is a 18,000 lien on the property in back child support. Our deed says " with covenants of SPECIAL WARRANTY of title," and I am guessing this is the type of deed we have. How is it fair that we have no children and we are going to be held responsible for someone else back child support? Do we have any options? Are we really held responsible for child support just like we would be for unpaid property taxes?

Where are the best areas to buy property in Florida/Tampa?
I'm thinking of buying property for rental purposes in Florida, and wanted to know what the best places are to buy on a limited budget. I've been looking at Tampa specifically so was looking for any advice on areas to look for and areas to avoid. Being on a limited budget I can't afford anywhere in the prime areas, but wanted somewhere that is relatively easy to rent out and not run down.
