Does the agent keep half the money even if i cancel?
i paid 592 dollars for 6 months insurance and after 10 days i cancelled, before cancelling i called the insuring company NOT THE AGENT asking how much ima get bak, she replied they will charge 10 % of the remaining balance as penalty an give me the rest refund, so roughly i will lose about 60dollars, it was fine with me, but later i got the check of only 250 dollars, i called them, they said they recieved 300 even though i paid 600 , so they gave me 253 bak, they said the rest of the money is in the hands of the AGENT, so if i go to the agent, is she going to give me bak the rest of them money? please someone help me with advise thanks

Recently I got a job offer from a person speaking in some what broken english and with a thick accent on the phone. Not to close any doors I listen to the offer and it seemed like a normal graphic design job in CA that I can do. I send my application through a replied e mail. They now want part of my date of birth as well my last 5 digits of my social security number. They said they need that information to check for any duplicate applications, which doesn't make much sense when they can just use name and city I live in to cross reference any duplicates. The fishy part was I got another job offer from another agent, only they needing the first 5 digits of my social security number. They both had a similar accents. I was thinking if they both knew each other, they would have my complete date of birth and social security number if they shared my information. So I was wondering is this normal job agency practice to ask such personal questions? Thanks

just had a counteroffer of 122k to a 128,913 condo shortsale.unfortunately the seller chooses the other offer which is 129k.then the listing agent told my agent the seller will accept our offer if we'll make it 130k..verbally.my problem is my lender i had a prequalification for 125k,with a downpymt of 70k.my lender told me they will prequalify a 130k if i'll put a down pymtny of 80k instead of 70k.i told my agent better if i'll just try another lender but my agent don't want me to do it,he wants me to stay with my lender and just put a 80k down payment.can i just get another agent and another lender?coz i felt that i will not get that condo if i'll stick with what they want. and the way it goes right now they are just waiting for me to put a down payment of 80k.what i want from my agent is to refer me to another lender who can help me with my loan.but he judt want me to stay with our lender..is it ok if i'll find another agent to continue my offer?

Letting agent/landlord refusing to return overpayment of rent?
First of all my landlord and letting agent are the same people so I'll use 'LA' to refer to them.I suffer from post natal depression and am currently a single, stay at home mum in receipt of housing benefit. Every month I borrow my 450 rent from my daughters father to enable me to pay at the beginning of the month which I then pay back to him with the housing benefit payments so that he can pay his own rent.My LA applied for my housing benefit to be paid directly to them by the council at the end of April stating that I was in 8 weeks worth of arrears which isn't true as I have never been in any arrears with them and have the paperwork to prove it . Before I knew they had made this application I paid my rent for May, then I found out that the council changed the payee for my HB to my LA and that they would be receiving all payments from 30 4 2012 onwards to cover my rent, which they would pay 4 weekly in arrears. So now I am in the situation where my account balance with my LA is 0, which will then be 415.40 in credit as of 27 5 2012. I have asked the LA for this money back, as it is clearly owed to me because it is not the councils money HB and they will be paid all future rent payments by the council. They agreed to pay me back when they had the money from the council for May, later that day they told me that they would used it as rent for June as it is due on 3rd.Like I said, they applied to the council to be paid directly by them knowing that they would be paid in arrears and that the only reason they haven't been up until this point is because I have been borrowing and paying back the money.I have been emailing the woman as, due to my PND, I don't want to talk over the phone or face to face in case I get angry or upset. She was very nice until I insisted that it was money due to me at which point I got a very unprofessional email and now she is ignoring my emails altogether I have phoned the council who have said they can't get involved and have contacted citizens advice who basically told me to look on their website and phone them, which is pointless considering they don't answer the phone I have around 100 to last me until the beginning of next month and a 16 month old daughter who has just caught chickenpox, I don't even have enough spare money to buy her lotion and calpol unless we go without electricity or nappies My LA knows this yet will not reply to me ever since they said they were keeping the money.I have emailed them since saying that I will not allow them to keep it since I am sure that once you have payments in credit with anyone gas, electric etc it is your choice whether the credit is used towards future payments or returned to you and I want it to be noted that I have not agreed to them keeping the extra money.Please if anyone has any advice for me, or an opinion on whether what the LA is doing is wrong or not then answer. Thanks in advanceIf I could afford for them to keep the money until I move out I would leave it until then but I can't I need the money back ASAP. 450 for one month is a lot of money for most people to lose
